KTAuthorKatherine is the author of the novels Valley Fever (Farrar, Straus, and Giroux 2015) and  Rules for Saying Goodbye (Farrar, Straus, and Giroux 2007). Her stories and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Elle, Town & Country, ZYZZYVA, The Southwest Review, and Ploughshares, among other publications. She has won a Pushcart Prize and the McGinnis Ritchie Award for Fiction, and has had fellowships from The Lighthouse Works, The American Swiss Foundation, Guild Hall, The Fischl/Gornick Foundation, and Columbia University. She has a B.A. from University of Southern California and a master’s degree from Columbia University, where she was a Graduate Writing Fellow. She lives in Los Angeles.

  1. Can wait to read your book. I spent 40 years in San Jose and visited wine country (including Modesto) many times. My wife’s great uncle was named Nate Vella and he sold grapes to the Gallos for many years. In fact, I sat next to Julio and Mary Gallo at Uncle Nate’s 50th anniversary. Such a nice couple. His brother Peter has a wine line named after him.
